Mathematics Successes

Congratulations to all students (and of course, supporting staff) who have performed so well in a variety of mathematical events over the past year.  Following their success in last June's regional final, our SMC Enterprising Maths Day team finished a very creditable 8th in the National Final in Glasgow. This year's regional final saw the PHS team emerge as best in Midlothian for the second year running. Further congratulations to all who received gold, silver and bronze awards at the SMC and UKMT Maths Challenges, with a special mention to CN who qualified for, and achieved a merit award at, the British Olympiad Pink Kangaroo follow-on round. This places him among the top 800 students in the UK. Finally, congratulations also to all who participated in Mathematique Sans Frontieres, the UKMT Maths Junior Team Challenge and World Mathematics Day.
