This was certainly a fitting finale to a great high school hockey season in Midlothian. This season has seen all schools improving and becoming much closer in terms of ability level, with Lasswade and Newbattle each winning Festivals for the first time this year. There was plenty of excitement as this was the highest scoring Festival to date, with an incredible 42 goals scored in just 10 matches. In the end it was Penicuik who came out on top, as they remained unbeaten, to lift the Trophy for the 3rd time in as many years.

Midlothian's 8 new Youth Umpires acquitted themselves extremely well as they umpired all the festival matches, and succeeded in passing their Practical Assessments in the process. Well done to Aedan M, Paul T, Chris M, Kerri A, Iain C, Louise C, Hazel T and Robyn T who were awarded certificates for their contribution to umpiring in Midlothian.

There were also awards for 6 youngsters, who gained their Leader coaching qualification during the course of the season - very well done to Iain C, Louise C, Hazel T, Heather O, Samantha H, Robyn T and Briony G who were awarded certificates for their contribution to coaching in Midlothian.

There were Player of the Year awards for each of the high schools, these went to:
Kerri A - Lasswade HS
Aedan M - Penicuik HS
Louise C - Dalkeith HS
Paul T - Newbattle HS
Jack N - Beeslack HS.

There were Most Improved Player awards for each of the high schools, these went to:
John W - Lasswade HS
Thomas C - Penicuik HS
Lenais M - Dalkeith HS
Ross D - Newbattle HS
James P - Beeslack HS.

Congratulations to Rachel F (Lasswade HS) who was selected as the Player of the Tournament.

Finally, a big thank you to Louise Munn (GB and Scotland) who was our VIP guest and carried out all the presentations to our hard-working and talented youngsters. Also, of course many thanks to Christine Hamilton (P.E., Newbattle HS) for hosting what was a very professionally organised tournament, which sets the bar high for next season!
